Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Sep. 5, 2018: The Catholic Diocese of Indore and Masihi Sanchar Ayog, Indore jointly organized the World Communication Day 2018. A Symposium on Fake News and Nrityanjali – Biblical Dance Performances were the centre of the Public Programme on 25th August, 2018 at St. Raphael’s School Auditorium, Indore.
The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Anil Pare a renowned judge. The Chairman of the committee and entire programme was Dr. Bishop Chacko Thottumarickal SVD, Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Indore. The programme began with a prayer song by Masihi Mandir, CNI Church and prayer by Pastor Suresh Carlton. The Word of God was shared by Jean Masih. Welcome address was given by secretary Dr. John Paul SVD.
The Symposium had the presence of the prolific journalists and writers from the city. Mr. Arvind Tiwari (President, Indore Press Club), Mr. Pankaj Mukati (Black and White News Network), Mr. Amit Mandloi (Patrika Newspaper) and Mr. Harish Fatehchandani (Hathway BTV) were present on the occasion. They spoke about the ill effects, consequences, issues, difficulties and aftermaths of fake news entering into the media.
Presenting various examples of Fake News from the news stories in Media, they tried to explain the way fake news has made its entry from Social Media to Print and Electronic Media. The major points which came forward to be taken care with regard to Fake News are accuracy of news, fact checking, doubly cross checking of a news story by the journalists and editors, reporting truth, building an environment of peace, etc. The large audience was very much inspired and taken up by the speakers of the day.
Nrityanjali, Bharat Natyam Biblical Dance Performances on various biblical themes by Fr. Saju George SJ and team from Kolkota mesmerized the audience and formed a very spiritual atmosphere. There was an address by the Chief Guest Dr. Anil Pare and a presidential address by Bishop Chacko.
The Communication Day Award 2018 was given to Mr. Denzil Lobo (Mhow Historian and Writer of almost 15 books). The felicitation of the speakers and performers was also done by Bishop Chacko. Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Bapu Parmar (Editor Masihi Akhbar) to all. The programme ended with the National Anthem by Masihi Mandir, CNI Church.
