A webinar was organized by SIGNIS INDIA (The Catholic Association for Communication) on the topic “CYBER SAPIENS: Cyber Security and Wellness Strategies for a Balanced Online Life” for the awareness building on 16th December 2024 from 06.00 pm to 07.00 pm. Almost 101 national and international participants both from SIGNIS INDIA and others from the field of Communication and Media took an active part in the webinar.

The webinar session was conducted by Rev. Fr. David Arockiam, Secretary SIGNIS INDIA and the prayer was led by Sr. Tessy Jacob, Screening Committee Member of the National Executive. The President, Rev. Fr. Victor Vijay Lobo, SIGNIS INDIA welcomed the Guest Speaker, Rev. Dr. Jenith Sekar and the participants for the webinar. He also briefed the participants about SIGNIS INDIA and its activities as well as various programmes.

Rev. Dr. Jenith Sekar was the Guest Speaker who shared his inputs on the topic “CYBER SAPIENS: Cyber Security and Wellness Strategies for a Balanced Online Life”. He presented the Digital Highway with the road to Jericho. He also asked the participants to become the ‘Good Samaritans’ by helping those in digital difficulties. The detailed explanation of different ‘Cyber Crimes and Cyber Threats’ helped the participants to become conscious about the online crimes and financial loss during the use of digital technology.

In today’s modern scenario Cyber-crimes and issues related to it have become the talk of the nation. Almost all newspapers and T.V. channels report about the various types of frauds and crimes happening around the globe digitally. In this context, Rev. Dr. Jenith Sekar highlighted the use of safety measures for better Cyber Wellness. He also asked attendees to be Cyber-hygienic by taking strong and effective precautionary measures. He talked about ‘Digital Wellbeing and Digital Detoxing’ in the era of smartphones, laptops and AI for a balanced Online Life.

There was a question and answer round at the end of the sharing by the speaker. Many doubts of the participants were clarified by the resource person. The Vice-President, Mr. Sumit Dhanraj, SIGNIS INDIA thanked the Guest Speaker, Rev. Dr. Jenith Sekar for sharing his prolific expertise and enriching thoughts during the webinar. He also thanked participants for their keen listening and interaction.
