Bangalore: July 27, 2015 : A Two day workshop on Media and Communications was organized by Karnataka Regional Centre for Social Communication (Sandesha) in collaboration with Youth Commission (KRYC) on July 25th and 26th 2015, at KROSS, Bangaluru. 41 delegates from different dioceses of Karnataka participated in the workshop. Dr Magimai Pragasam, Director CCMM, Chennai and Fr Jayanathan, Vicar General of Bangaluru Diocese were the resource persons.
Training sessions included topics like Communication, Media Education, News Writing, Newspaper analysis and Preparing Model Newspaper, Short film Making, Social Media, PR skills, song analysis and other relevant topics. Participants produced 4 short films during the workshop. Besides creating awareness and understanding of key ideas and issues related to media, the participants were challenged to think critically, creatively and clearly.
“The session taken by the resource person was inkling with the track of the youth to today with more practical classes which made all to think and work as team’ said Ms Jeralene one of the participant from Bengaluru. Mr Brayan, another participant from Udupi said “I was really interested in photography and writing but I dint have a base for it. This programme gave me a good start to my real interest in Mass media and Communication” “One of the best thing I learnt from this workshop is how to make one minute video and Impact of it” said Ms Jovita from Mangalore diocese.
At the Concluding function of the workshop Fr. Victor Vijay Lobo, Director of Sandesha encouraged participants saying, “There is more to learn in different ways but continue to learn and use the media at our disposal.” He also announced that Sandesha would be conducting advance workshop on Film making at Sandesha, Mangalore.
Fr Mari Joseph, Secretary, Karnataka regional youth Commission, welcomed the participants at the inaugural session and exhorted them to make best use of the training program.
