A National Media Conference on ‘Contemporary Media Landscapes: Challenges and Opportunities’, was organized by NISCORT Media College, Vaishali on March 13, 2020. Ms. Sarah Jacob, the
senior editor of NDTV and anchor of ‘We the People’ show, inaugurated the conference.

“The new media throws challenges, it also gives unique opportunities to make big difference in this world,” said Sarah Jacob in her key note address. She inspired the young minds to be good media persons to face the challenges of today’s world. Research scholars and academicians from different states of India attended the conference. It comprised 4 sessions in which 4 scholars each presented their research papers. Each session was followed by interaction between the participants and the paper presenters.

“Paradigm shift among brands from traditional to new media for promotions and marketing” by Ms. Jolly Jain was awarded as the best research paper of the conference. Jolly Jain is a senior account executive at ‘Ad factors PR Pvt Ltd’ Jaipur branch. Along with that she is also pursuing her Ph.D. from International College for girls, Jaipur.

A panel discussion on the main topic of the conference was conducted in the afternoon in which Vinod K Jose (Executive Editor, Caravan) and R.J Simran (Founder Director, Speak for Change Foundation) were the main speakers. It was moderated by Fr. Stanley Kozhichira, the President of SIGNIS India. “Any radio which goes hand-in-hand with the society will survive and it will have a future,” said Simran. Vinod K Jose spoke about the three challenges – ownership of media houses, digital advertising, and authoritative government – existing in the media landscape and elaborated it with numerous examples.

In the valedictory function, Dr. K. G Suresh (founder dean, School of Modern Media, Dehradun and former Director General of IIMC) was the chief guest who dealt at length on the opportunities of media if we are ready to introduce new ideas. He also invited the participants to be creative and imaginative, to be successful in media profession. He distributed certificates to various categories of participants and organizers of the function.
