Andheri, Mumbai: A two-days communication and media workshop on the theme "Awakening: A Missionary Responsibility" was organized by SVD Mumbai province on 3-4 March, 2020 at Atma Darshan, Andheri, Mumbai. Nearly 30 SVD priests and 2 Holy Spirit sisters (SSpS) from all over India participated in the workshop.
Seeing the need of the to preach the Gospel through social media is the need of the time as the modern technology has become a handy thing. The purpose of the workshop was to awaken the missionaries about their responsibility of preaching the Good News as there has been a lethargy creeping in with regard to the evangelization.
The resource person Bp. Jose Perunnedom stressed on documentation and archives saying, "Documents in the archive is very important because they are the source of making history and thus need an utmost care."
Sr. Manisha Gonsalves RSCJ in her session emphasized on interpersonal communication saying that they are tje basis of all good communication.
Third speaker, Fr. Joshan Rodrigues, the priest from Mumbai Archdiocese, stressed on the right use of social media. He also gave practical tips on the use of social media.
The forth speaker Margaret da Costa, highlighted on leadership and communication, inviting the missionaries to become effective leaders.
In the discussions and deliberations, the participants expressed that they have been awakened of their responsibilities and much has to be done in this field of their communication apostolate.
The workshop started with lighting of the lamp and the welcome address by Fr. Richard Mathias, the SVD provincial of Mumbai province. The communication coordinator of Mumbai province Fr. Anil SVD introduced all the resource persons and vote of thanks was given by Fr. John Paul SVD, the communication coordinator of SVD India Central province.
