Vatican City, November 27, 2006 (Zenit.org): The Zenit news agency is launching an edition in Arabic, in collaboration with Vatican Radio, the most important source of Catholic information in Arabic. Also collaborating in the new initiative is the Oasis review of the Patriarchate of Venice.

Zenit’s Arabic edition is financed, in part, by a donation from the charity Aid to the Church in Need.

The Arabic service is being launched in response to requests from Christian communities in Arab countries that wish to read the Pope’s teachings and be informed directly in their language on key events in the life of the Church.

The project aims to be a bridge of dialogue between cultures and religions. The new service offers daily and weekly editions.
