Indore: October 12, 2019: 4 Day Workshop on Mobile Journalism (MoJou) got concluded on October 12, 2019. The chief Guest of the concluding ceremony was Most Rev. Chacko Thottumarickal SVD, who stressed the need of this course for the youngsters and presented certificate to each of the participants.
On the first day, the participants were taught the basic elements of news and journalism by the resource persons, Sister Ganga Rawat SSpS, Fr. John Paul SVD and Fr. Antony Swamy SVD. The day was inaugurated by Fr. Johny D’Souza SVD, Provincial Superior of India Central Province said that mobile journalism is the need of the hour, the youth who have a device in their hand can do thousands of creative ideas for the society and not only just using it chats and browsing the videos added.
On the second day began with the well-known blogger and journalist, Prakash Hindustani who addressed on Journalism in the age of new Media, brought the old model of communication such as Telephone, Computer, Letter Writing and Camera. He said, “Mobile has made an ordinary man into worldwide reporter only through mobile journalism. He gave some miles stones in the social media such as 1.5 +billion people have smart phones by 2020, 5 billion will have smart phones and 99.5% consumers use mobile and watch videos online. Bapu Parmar, a renowned journalism spoke briefly on his vocation and called his own newspaper ‘Masih Akbaar’. Shruti Agrawal, wellknown journalist, command over electronic, social and print media spoke on Faith (vishvanita), Scripting, voiceover, scanning and anchor. She also spoke on social media saying that sensitivity should be kept in mind the following manner, such as social directives, relevance upto date, proper headline, credibility and the timing for reading news on social media.
On the third day, Sr. Ganga Rawat SSpS spoke on Photo Caption with Power Point Presentation. Later, the participants were divided into different groups to create a model newspaper based on their inputs and guidance given by different speakers on journalism. Finally, the participants presented Pratibimbh newspaper creatively and was well appreciated by guest speakers.
On the fourth day, the discussion was based on Video and Photo editing led by Fr. Antony Swamy SVD. He taught how to edit and present photos and videos through Kine Master and Canva applications. The climax of the day was on the topic the use of mobile to publish and to earn led by Arjun Riccharia. He dealt on earnings through Face book, Youtube, Google Subscription basis. It was very heartwarming and interesting to know the ways and means of earning while we sit in our residence using our creative mind.
Most Rev. Chacko Thottumarickal SVD, the chief guest for the valedictory function raised the question on fake news and paid news and asked the participants to introspect our sincerity in spreading truth, values and justice through mobile journalism. Fr. John Paul SVD, the guests and the participants for wiliness to come forward to create news cripples in the sea of society. The four days workshop came an end with the National Anthem.
