SIGNIS INDIA NATIONAL ASSEMBLY 2015 - PATNA
STATEMENT

SIGNIS, the World Catholic Association for Communication officially recognised by Vatican, spread across 142 countries in the world, is engaged in building a just society with culture of peace and harmony. SIGNIS INDIA is the Indian chapter of SIGNIS World.

SIGNIS India National assembly held in Patna from 28th to 30th January 2015 with 65 participants from all over India firmly resolve to celebrate diversity and promote religious and cultural pluralism.

Interference with fundamental rights enshrined in Indian constitution creates disharmony among its people and destroys the secular fabric of India.
 
While condemning strongly the recent incidents of violence against religious minorities, we resolve individually and collectively with all our resources to voice against the organised violence and the onslaught on religious harmony, democracy and freedom of religious and cultural minorities of India by fundamentalists.

Being communication and media professionals working for peace and justice, we commit ourselves to adopt a multifaceted approach using small and mainstream media, folk and social media as well as public and interpersonal communication means along with appropriate training to create awareness among people to identify the divisive forces, safeguard the basic rights and protect communal harmony building a just, humane, and inclusive India.

We also commit ourselves to align with various social, secular and religious organisations, networks and peoples movements to strengthen our efforts towards building a better nation and a world of peace, love, joy and harmony.
